Attwood & Sawyer was bought by Buckley Jewellery and left dormant for several years. Recognising the vintage and classic quality of the brand, the company took the old samples – still in pristine condition – out of storage and resurrected the famous brand with new designs.

The revival of the heritage brand is currently in the works, he added, with Buckley’s London-based design team putting the range together.“Nobody else is doing this type of jewellery now: it’s very vintage, indulgent and classic. The inaugural Asia Pacific Airline Retail awards took place on Wednesday during the Airline Retail Conference 2012 Asia-Pacific gala dinner, sponsored by Scorpio Disttributors, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Singapore.

Delegates were invited to vote online for the first five categories which included Best Airline for Inflight Retail (sponsored by Scorpio Distributors) and Best Inflight Agent or Distributor (sponsored by Elizabeth Arden). They were then asked to vote by ballet using voting slips for the remaining awards which consisted of Best Inflight Food Product and Best Inflight Retail Product.

The Best Airline for Inflight Retail award went to Singapore Airlines, while Scorpio Distributors collected the Best Inflight Agent or Distributor prize. The Best Inflight Retail product accolade went to Buckley Jewellery.

While the Duchess of Cambridge’s status as a “style icon” remains the subject of fierce personal opinion, there’s no denying her trendsetting capabilities. Since announcing her engagement to Prince William last November, Kate’s every outfit has been the subject of intense scrutiny – and a dozen cheap knock-offs. It might come with little surprise, then, that Marks & Spencer’s replica of her engagement ring has become the retailer’s bestselling piece of jewellery to date.

Kate’s fashion hits and misses

Since it went on sale in March, M&S have sold around 200 of its “Platinum Plated Royal Ring” every week. And judging by the product’s feedback online, the £18 design, described by the retailer as a “gorgeous platinum-plated ring, set with dazzling diamanté” has captured the imagination of the public.

Kate Crossey, design manager for footwear and accessories at M&S said: “Since the royal wedding, we’ve found that classic, vintage style pieces have become increasingly popular.” Crossey added: “Despite the big day being over, customers seem to be holding on to the Royal trend as we continue to see sales grow.”

Kate’s ring: A ring that sparkles with significance

Fellow high-street retailer Debenhams reported a similar trend back in April, as its £6 replica of the Duchess’s ring, which originally belonged to the late Diana, Princess of Wales, became its fastest-ever selling piece of jewellery.
