A collection of fine jewellery once owned by Wallis Simpson is due to go under the hammer at Sotherbys auction house on November 30th 2010.
The unique collection of pieces, which is estimated to be worth in the region of £3m, had been put on display in London until September 29, and will now tour displays in Hong Kong, Moscow, New York and Geneva prior to the sale. The unique collection of jewellery, was amassed during the Duchess of Windsor’s affair with Edward VIII.
The auction is scheduled for 20 items, the collection includes a Cartier Flamingo brooch which is expected to fetch £1.5m, a Cartier onyx and diamond panther bracelet, also expected to fetch in the region of £1.5m, a Cartier latin crosses bracelet, expected to sell for £450,000 and an anniversary Brooch, which the auction house anticipates could sell for £150,000.
Numerous pieces feature personal messages inscribed on them from Edward to Walllis. This is an opportunity to own truely a unique piece of royal history.
